Excursions from Cusco for Spanish students
Learning Spanish in Cusco means living it outside the classroom too. Cusco is the gateway to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and our students combine their classes with day trips, weekend trips and cultural activities where they practice Spanish in real situations.
Below you will find the excursions we recommend: Machu Picchu, the Cusco city tour, the Sacred Valley and other trips around the region. You can also study away from the city in our off-site Spanish programs in the Sacred Valley, Manu National Park and Caicay, or combine Spanish with volunteer work in Cusco.
Your trip includes train tickets and bus tickets to and from Cusco. Transportation to the remains of Machu Picchu, tour guide, entrance ticket to the site and a hearty lunch in the town of Aguas Calientes. For more information please contact Excel Travel Agency. A representative will pick you up from your home or hotel in the morning and take you to the train station to start your journey.
If you prefer you can do the four-day or two-day trek on the famous Inca Trail. If you would like to make the trek, you should be in good physical condition and have your own sleeping bag, hiking boots, rainwear and a good flashlight. Several outfitters close to the Plaza de Armas stock a variety of camping equipment for sale or hire.
It is a half-day trip to major attractions in Cusco and the surrounding area.
The tour generally includes stops at the temple of the Sun (an Inca ruin that survived the Spanish conquest and is now part of the church of Santo
Domingo), the Cathedral on the Plaza de Armas. Sacsayhuaman (the remains of an Inca fortress on the outskirts of town), and the smaller ruins of Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and Qenqo. For more information please contact Excel Travel Agency.
This is a full-day tour includes stops at Pisac (to visit the Indian market), Urubamba and Ollantaytambo (tour of the pueblo and of the ruins). A buffet lunch in a restaurant in Urubamba is also included.
